Week 31: Red

The 52 week project is  where we have a new theme each week and interpret that theme in our own way.  This week’s theme is red.

Next up is Dana Cubbage, Charleston SC pet photographer.  Let’s look and see what has her seeing red. Be sure to click around until you get back to me.  See you all next week.

Week 29 Kisses

Week 29 challenge is kisses. The girls were not in a kissing sort of mood this week so I twisted the challenge by catching Luna being “kissed” by some morning light.

Next up is Central Coast Pet Photographer, Sharon Stokes see what kisses she was blessed with.

Week 28 Selective Focus

As most of you know Project 52 is a weekly challenge that encourages us to try new techniques within the framework of a particular challenge.  This week’s challenge is selective focus. The idea is isolate our subject whether it be by stopping down the apeture, the use of a specific lens such as a Lensbaby, or perhaps a telephoto lens to compress the image. One could even do this in Photoshop. The goal is that only our subject is to be in sharp focus and everything thing else blurry.

I selected a couple of photos to demonstrate selective focus.  The kitty is my cousin’s cat, Lilly.  Notice the shallow depth of field, i.e. the left eye is in focus whereas the right is soft.  The second photo is of Luna and Maya.  Again shallow depth of field using a long lens to compress the focus.

Next up in the rotation is Sharon Hardy of  Sweet Potato Pet Photos in Los Angeles   and see what she focused on.

Fireworks

I have a confession, I love fireworks. Watching the colors, the shapes and even the sounds, all make me feel as if I was four again. This year I was able to watch two lovely shows, one at the San Diego Fair and other at the La Costa Resort.  Life was good this year. Of course camera in hand, on tripod,  settings around 4 to 8 seconds with an f-stop of 8 to 16 I was able to capture some nice firework displays. Hope you enjoy these as much as I did watching and photographing this fleeting art in light.

Week 27 Location

I am back after a month long hiatus because of a number of computer issues.  Fortunately I have a great IT guy who finally was able to resolve all my  issues.  The challenge of the week is Location. We need to emphasize location as much as the pet.  San Diego is hosting the fair and if you look at the background you see the fair and the dog.

Next up in the rotation is North Carolina Pet Photographer, Steph Skardal.  Click to see how she featured location in her photo.  See you all next week.
